Jamie xx – Boiler Room

If you haven’t heard Jamie xx’s mix from the Boiler Room yet, it’s well worth downloading. Bass baby. (God damn anyone that tries to listen to this through laptop speakers!)ripple

Father John Misty – Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings

Ah, I love the end of year ‘best of’ lists! All of the most amazing tracks and albums distilled and neatly packaged up. So good! While a lot of them might not be all that surprising, the best part is seeing all of the amazing stuff that you’ve missed throughout the course of the year. Like this little gem, how did this escape my attention? It’s totally freaking sweet, as is the album. Who knows what else I’ve missed. I don’t like thinking about it.

Gorilla Vs. Bear kill it with the best vids/albums/tracks. Probably the best lists I’ve seen.

Grizzly Bear – Half Gate

Shields by Grizzly Bear is one of my favourite albums from 2012. It’s mature and sophisticated. It has depth and texture. It’s moody and dramatic. I think throughout it’s incredibly well crafted. Below is Half Gate. Perhaps not the best, but one of the excellent, lesser known tracks from the album. Every part of it feels purposeful. The drums, the harmonies. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.
